The finalists of the award will attend a high-level training bootcamp at the G. Verdi Conservatory in Milan where they will prepare to face the final live test with a show for the tenth anniversary of his death.
"The recognition dedicated to Pino - declares Fabrizio Bianco, artistic director of the Higher Musical Education projects of the Pino Daniele Foundation - It's a phenomenon of inclusion, participation, and identity. The goal is to promote the ecosystem of values behind the creation and live performance of musical works..
The contest includes two categories: AFAM, meaning "individual artists accompanied by a band" or "musical groups" who are students of a conservatory or institution recognized by the AFAM system of higher artistic education; and Academy Connection, meaning "individual singer-songwriters" who have never studied at the AFAM system. In this category, each finalist will be assigned a band of young musicians from the Milan Conservatory. Candidates will undergo live auditions in which they will demonstrate their expertise in composition and arrangement. Backing tracks, third-party arrangements, or vocal tuning systems are not permitted.
The ambition, Bianco explains further, "is that the participatory community of the live contest represents an example of healthy cohesion and civil society made up of young people of various backgrounds, including ethnic and religious, who through the universal language of music cooperate in the creation of culture". Negramaro will support the talents promoted by the Pino Daniele Foundation. These guys will be entrusted with the task of opening the band's concerts in Naples, Milan and Messina.
On the ninth anniversary of his death, his daughter Sara remembers Pino Daniele with a post on Instagram: "I still feel like that little girl looking at you from the backseat of the car and trying to hold your hand. Nothing's changed. I'm still me. And you're next to me." he writes, posting a black and white photo showing his father from behind, sitting in the car next to the driver's seat, with one hand supporting his face as he looks out the window.
