The Marine Protected Area Punta Campanella is organizing three training courses aimed at local stakeholders and young people. They will explore key issues related to the proper use of the MPA, safety, and the creation of new green tourism opportunities. Upon completion of the courses, certificates will be issued, which, with the new regulations currently being approved, will become mandatory for carrying out activities in the Punta Campanella MPA.

The initiative is aimed primarily at charter, scuba diving, and professional fishing, but also at young people seeking employment in these sectors. The courses will be held at the Marine Protected Area Visitor Center in Massa Lubrense and begin at the end of the month. Registration is open until January 22nd and is limited to 70 participants. You can view the courses and download the application form on the MPA's official website, www.puntacampanella.org.

Qualified professionals in the fields of natural and environmental sciences, emergency medical services, and marine scientific research will lead the courses, which in some cases also include sea excursions. The first course—"Naturalistic Peculiarities and Regulatory Aspects of the Punta Campanella MPA and the SCI, now a Special Environmental Protection Area (SEC) "Punta Campanella Seabed and Capri"—will explore aspects related to the MPA Regulations and Specifications, the main activities permitted in the protected area, the species and habitats present, and measures to mitigate human impacts.

Only those who have completed this course will be authorized to take guided tours of the Amp. The second course, "Basic Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation and Defibrillation," will provide essential emergency skills, such as assessing the scene, calling 118, aligning the patient, opening the airway, performing chest compressions, and administering ventilation.

The third and final course, "Dolphin Watching," will focus on dolphins. This course will teach knowledge about dolphin biology and ethology, identification and sighting techniques, visual assessment of dolphin health, first aid for cetaceans entangled in fishing gear, effective communication strategies for engaging tourists, and photography techniques. The goal is to train marine professionals to initiate and manage dolphin watching activities, including within the scope of the European LIFE Delfi project.

"We continue with our actions to involve local stakeholders, to create synergies and activities that can be fruitful and compatible with the protection of the Marine Area. - points out Lucio Cacace, President of Amp Punta Campanella -. Collaboration with charters, diving centers, and fishermen is essential for us, ensuring both the protection of the sea and biodiversity, and their economic activities. These courses will provide certificates that will be used to obtain authorization for activities in the Marine Protected Area.

"At the heart of this initiative is responsible use, which represents a cornerstone of our actions. - comments the Director of the Punta Campanella MPA, Lucio DeMaio Anyone conducting MPA visits by boat must attend the initial training course, "Naturalistic Peculiarities and Regulatory Aspects of the Punta Campanella MPA." Attendance at the course is required to apply for registration in the MPA registers and is a prerequisite for issuing the required permits.

Among the various innovations that will be introduced by the new Regulations (currently being approved), in fact, a distinction is foreseen between the nautical means used for commercial purposes that carry out the “transit” in the MPA and those that carry out “visits of the MPA”. In particular, for the former, the stopover on the mooring fields, at anchor, or adrift, will not be foreseen, but only navigation, while for the latter it will be possible to carry out tourist activities and use the services offered by the MPA, including the stopover on the mooring fields.

"To provide a more qualified service, commercial operators whose vehicles carry out visits to the AMP - concludes Director De Maio- They must have at least one member of staff trained and authorized by the managing body, through registration in the register of environmental guides of the Punta Campanella MPA.

Course registration closes on January 22nd at 12:31 PM. Applications can be submitted via certified email to amppuntacampanella@pec.it or in person at the organization's headquarters at Via Roma 0818089877 in Massa Lubrense.
