A young girl was reportedly kidnapped in the Salerno area, but what happened is still unclear.
The case, reported by the newspaper La Citta', presents several unclear aspects. The 12-year-old girl was reportedly picked up last Monday after school, hooded, and then released, according to today's edition of the newspaper, near the entrance to the English cemetery in Pagliarone di Montecorvino Pugliano.
Her mother would have accompanied her to the hospital Battipaglia where no evidence of sexual assault was found. The police are investigating the case, but are not releasing any clarifications or information. The investigation is coordinated by the Salerno prosecutor's office, which is maintaining the utmost confidentiality.
Bellizzi Mayor Mimmo Volpe, in a social media post, clarified: "There was no case of kidnapping at the Bellizzi school. This is purely for the sake of accuracy and truthful reporting. The Bellizzi middle school was not involved in the case of the girl's kidnapping."
And he added: "It remains a serious and unacceptable act. We stand with the little girl's family. We hope these irresponsible and shameful individuals are quickly identified."
