In 2023, 563.165 people passed through the gates of the Herculaneum Archaeological Park.
This figure represents the highest number of visits ever recorded, even exceeding the pre-pandemic period of 2019. To this result are also added the visits to the exhibition Materia sui legni dell'antica Ercolano at the Reggia di Portici, bringing the total number of visits to exceed the threshold of 600.000.
This success highlights the qualitative growth of the Park's cultural offerings. The Park Director, Francesco Sirano, expressed his satisfaction with this achievement, stating: “Exceeding certain milestones represents the satisfaction for the working days that, together with an exceptional and passionate staff, we always live with great gratification. 2023 represents the turning point for the Park; with cultural initiatives and diversified offers, we will consolidate this growth with an increasingly satisfying commitment.”
Following the positive feedback of 2023, the first initiatives of 2024 have already been launched to expand the visitor experience. Among these, the opening of the Casa della Gemma, famous for its precious floor mosaics, which will be open to visitors until April 11. Furthermore, from February the Close up cantieri format will be proposed again, offering visitors the opportunity to immerse themselves in the restoration sites as protagonists. The Ercolano Park therefore confirms itself as a cultural destination of great importance, with a program full of events and constant attention to the local community and surrounding entities.
