Two hundred and fifty thousand visitors were under 25 years old. According to director Maffei, there were "Great potential also for 2024".
The Royal Palace of Caserta closed 2023 with 1.028.292 admissions after welcoming its millionth visitor last December 21. It is the first time since 2000 (the year of the Jubilee), as stated in an official note from the Museum, that the Royal Palace of Caserta has achieved this milestone. The growth in admissions is clear compared to 2022: it is 30,4%.
The numbers for 2023, the note continues, These are not only indicators of the number of visitors to whom the Institute has revealed its wonder, but also of the type of public who has chosen the Royal Palace of Caserta as a destination or stop on a cultural, touristic, knowledge-based, or, in a word, experiential journey. The Institute, again for the past year, has chosen to limit its access by number of visitors and time slots. This decision is motivated by the desire and necessity to protect staff, visitors, and heritage, while also ensuring a visit to the Vanvitellian complex that can truly be a source of personal and collective enrichment. On many days, not just those with free admission, the Museum has sold out. It was deemed appropriate to focus on the quality of the visit, viewing the Royal Palace and its Green Museum as an immersive journey through history and nature, rather than as a vast space to be filled.
Around 250 young people have chosen the Royal Palace of Caserta.

The number of minors and students visiting increased by 41,3% compared to the previous year. The ReggiaCard season ticket campaign, which allows year-round access to the Royal Apartments and Royal Park, also achieved good results in 2023. 6839 people visited the Museum for Hercules, Venus, Lions, and Atlas (the names of the various season tickets available). The free admission days attracted 146.221 visitors.
The date with the highest attendance was October 1st with 15.854 admissions. Despite the numbers, even on the days with free admission, the Royal Palace of Caserta "establishes a finite number of tickets to be issued. The potential of this major attraction must always be balanced with the protection of the Vanvitelli Complex, its staff, and its users, without neglecting the initiative's purpose of promoting Italy's cultural heritage."
"We are already working for this new year that has just begun - stated the general director of the Royal Palace of Caserta, Tiziana Maffei - The Royal Palace has much potential, which we hope to further develop in the coming months with the opening of new spaces to the public, the upgrading of services, and the expansion of the museum offering. The major construction project for the Royal Palace of Caserta continues with strategic interventions for its preservation, but above all, for the careful and demanding repurposing of spaces returned by other institutions. There is still much to do and improve, also with a view to overcoming the emergency situations that have plagued the Vanvitellian complex for too long. The path has been mapped out, and despite the severe staff shortage that prevents us from addressing the enormity of this demanding and extraordinary transformation with the desired speed, we will continue to forge ahead with determination. This is a collaborative effort, the fruit of the dedication of the dozens of people who, every day, in contact with the public or in technical and administrative activities, work to convey the values these places embody.
