While awaiting the autopsy to allow for the funeral and the results of the investigation to clarify the cause of death of 50-year-old rider Raffaele “Lello” Acampora, who was hit by a Circumvesuviana train while crossing the tracks on his scooter between Boscoreale and Scafati , straddling the provinces of Naples and Salerno, the dangerousness of that unbarred level crossing, where other tragedies have already occurred, continues to be debated.

Eav defends itself by claiming that the acoustic alarm system and the lighting system were perfectly functional but many argue that since it is a suburban road, especially in winter and in the dark, it is easy to make mistakes.

Lello Acampora's death has left his family and the entire community in mourning. Raffaele was a rider who worked hard to support his family, consisting of his wife Nunzia and their two daughters. He was described as a kind and polite person, and had a great passion for Juventus, his favorite team.

One of the rider's daughters posted a touching farewell on Facebook, expressing all the pain for the loss of her father and the desire to be able to meet him again in the future.

Daughter's touching post

“I still can’t believe it, I was hoping so much that this horrible news was a mistake, a mistake. It can’t be true, it’s not true that you don’t exist anymore, it’s not true that you’re no longer with us, it’s not true that you won’t be here anymore, it’s not true that you won’t be there on my graduation day, it’s not true that you won’t be at my wedding, it’s not true that you won’t know my children and that they won’t know you..! It shouldn’t have happened… you were working like every day, non-stop and you still had so much strength to keep going, but it didn’t take much to make you lose this strength.

I didn't want this to happen, especially now that I'm far away and I'm about to go home to our family, I haven't seen you for a week and I feel bad. It hurts not to have been able to see you anymore and to go home without you. I hope that one day we will meet again and be able to hug you like I've never done before! I love you dad”.

The mayor of Sant'Antonio Abate, Ilaria Abagnale, expressed the community's condolences to Raffaele's family and requested that the critical issues related to level crossings be addressed, to prevent similar accidents in the future.

Two years ago Lello Acampora expressed all his pain and disappointment over the death of a fellow rider who was hit by a scooter while working.

The 2022 post for the death of a fellow rider hit

“What am I thinking…??? I’m thinking that two nights ago one of our fellow citizens who was working lost his life in a car accident between Angri and Sant’Antonio Abate, this happened only on Friday night at around 23pm, he was a colleague of mine, a friend, a very sensitive, helpful person, a hard worker who lives in via Santa Maria la Carità, maybe on Tuesday morning there will be the funeral but if I were his family I would move the funeral to another town.

Where they really felt the pain of this cruel tragedy I saw people crying the other night we stayed until 5 in the morning to understand what had happened our dear friend Pino Cannavacciuolo unfortunately is no longer with us, this country does not deserve the celebration of Peppe's funeral, it's been two days now but I have not seen any citation from my fellow citizens including those who govern this country today.

I thank the mayor of Angri who expressed his condolences to the Cannavacciuolo family on the institutional page... it is a disappointment that in our town they have not even talked about it... goodbye Peppe you will always have a special place in my heart and in the hearts of all the fellow riders who give their heart and soul every day for this job... goodbye Peppino may the earth be light on you”.
