The solidarity of civil society in support of the Salerno community and specifically of the San Giovanni di Dio Ruggi d'Aragona Hospital does not stop Salerno.

And so a private donation will enhance and innovate the hospital's technology suite. On Thursday, January 6th, a VINNO 4 ultrasound system and two latest-generation portable ultrasound probes were donated to the Pediatric Surgery Department at the San Giovanni di Dio - Ruggi d'Aragona Hospital in Salerno.

The donation was made by engineer Fabio D'Antuono and Giovanni Lombardo, CEO of GBS - Global Biomedical Service of Castel San Giorgio (SA).

Present at the delivery, in addition to the engineer Fabio D'Antuono and Giovanni Lombardo, the health director, Dr. Emilia Anna Vozzella, and the director of the department, Dr. Umberto Ferrentino.

The portable ultrasound scanner VINNO 6, worth 16.000 euros, will be used by the Complex Operating Unit of Pediatric Surgery directed by Dr. Ferrentino, who carries out his activity treating patients aged between 0 and 14 years affected by congenital and acquired pathologies, including emergencies and urgencies.

Giovanni Lombardo, CEO of GBS, intervened in this regard: "I considered it appropriate to support, together with Eng. D'Antuono, this special department of Ruggi di Salerno. I and all of us also owe a lot for all the good these structures are doing for our community, so I decided to contribute. I believe in support, I believe in support for the civil community of our territories".

Eng. Fabio D'Antuono then added: "Last December 26 was the birthday of someone important to me, I wanted to give her and the community something truly valuable. I thought of the many children hospitalized in the pediatric department in Salerno and together with Giovanni Lombardo we decided to contribute to helping the many doctors and nurses who fight every day for the health of our children."

Dr. Umberto Ferrentino, director of the pediatric department, added: "One of our hospital's missions is to foster a multidisciplinary approach across the various branches. Therefore, given the specific diagnoses we need to make, as a non-pediatric hospital, where pediatric surgery is available—there are only two pediatric surgeries in Campania—we often require new, cutting-edge equipment.

The bureaucratic procedures for acquiring new machinery are a bit slow, but donations expand the range of machinery available in our facilities and give us a big hand.”

The Medical Director of the AOU San Giovanni di Dio and Ruggi d'Aragona of Salerno, Dr. Emilia Anna Vozzella, concludes: “On behalf of the entire Strategic Management and with immense gratitude, I would like to thank everyone who, through a valuable and important donation, has contributed to enriching the Pediatric Surgery department at Ruggi.”
