The presence of traces of cocaine in the urine of a three-month-old baby has been confirmed by counter-analysis. Salerno hospitalized in very serious conditions at the Santobono pediatric hospital in Naples.
Further tests requested by the Santobono intensive care unit at the chemical-toxicological laboratory of the Vanvitelli University Hospital on blood and urine samples, carried out using highly sensitive gas chromatography-mass spectrometry, revealed the presence of traces of cocaine in the urine and the absence of cocaine in the blood sample.
The child's clinical conditions remain very serious, suffering from bacterial meningitis for which the prognosis is reserved.
