A Sant'Antimo, a mother and her disabled son live in a council house located in a building confiscated from the Camorra, known as the “Picasso” condominium.
Unfortunately, their home has turned into a sort of prison due to the constant breakdowns of the elevator, which prevent the boy, confined to a wheelchair, from leaving the house since they live on the third floor.
In a voice message between the elevator technician and the administrator, the technician is heard saying that the elevator repair is not a priority, stating: “We have accustomed them to bad things, now they have to wait.”
The mother expressed her outrage by saying: “My son had to skip physical therapy and it’s certainly not the first time. How dare they speak in such a contemptuous way, knowing that I have a disabled child?” He then addressed his request for help to the deputy of the Green-Left alliance, Francesco Emilio Borrelli.
Borrelli commented: “We took care of this family more than two years ago. At that time, they were assigned an apartment on the first floor of a building, but without an elevator, which made it impossible for them to move. We asked for another solution that arrived immediately.
Now we ask first of all for respect and that maintenance and emergency interventions be carried out regularly. Having essential services that allow travel is a sacrosanct right of these people, and those responsible for it, instead of complaining, should do their duty.”
