The Fire Path and the lighting of the “Fucarazzo” will kick off a week of events dedicated to the Patron Saint
The historical reenactment and the Fire Path towards the lighting of the “Fucarazzo 'e Sant'Antuono” will kick off the celebrations for the Patron Saint of Sant'Antonio Abate and the traditional Porchetta Festival, now in its 43rd year. From January 16th to 21st, Sant'Antonio Abate will be celebrating, with tours, events, and traveling shows dedicated to the patron saint who gives the city its name. The events are organized by the Pro Loco of Sant'Antonio Abate and "Napoli è," with the patronage of the Municipality of Sant'Antonio Abate, the Metropolitan City of Naples, and the Campania Region.
"Starting this year," explains Ilaria Abagnale, mayor of Sant'Antonio Abate, "the history, culture, traditions, and healthy sense of belonging to the area will once again be experienced in the area: 'our intangible assets,' enhanced by the community's most heartfelt event.

The packed program of events kicks off on Tuesday, January 16th, the evening before the patron saint's day. It begins with the Fire Trail between Piazza della Libertà and Via Lettere, which will lead visitors to the lighting of the "cippo" (stone), with the traditional "Fucarazzo 'e Sant'Antuono" (flame of Saint Anthony) that will warm up the atmosphere and also kick off the 43rd Porchetta Festival.
On Wednesday, January 17, starting at 10 in the morning, the Coldiretti Agricultural Fair will take place in Piazza della Libertà. During the day, the Natural Park will host the “Traditional, Agricultural and Animal Fair”, a renewed exhibition dedicated to the rural world and the agricultural traditions of Abate, to be reached by walking under the lights that tell the proverbs related to the Patron Saint. The protagonists will be the children, who will have fun in “show cooking” workshops where they can learn the oldest recipes related to tradition. The evening will be accompanied by folk shows, the Black Days and ScialaPopolo parade and the Banda Caprese.
On Friday the 19th, a children's contest inspired by Masterchef Italy will take place, while on Sunday, January 21st, the festivities will close with a cooking show starting at 10:15 a.m., an artistic performance by Sant'Antuono Scampia at 22:16 p.m., and a Medieval History Reenactment that will entertain attendees until 20:XNUMX p.m. Additionally, a stage will be set up in Largo Sandro Pertini for musical performances, comedy shows, and concerts, which will be held every evening from January XNUMXth to XNUMXth.
