After the blow for the Buonocore - Matrone clan of Scafati and of the Cesarano Clan of Castellammare di Stabia which led to a total 100 years in prison which were imposed by the Court of Appeal of Salerno on 22 December for an investigation conducted by the DDA of Salerno on the territory of Scafati and Santa Maria La Carità who beheaded the two “allied” clans, the first excellent release arrives.
He is released after only two years from his arrest, Pasquale Panariello, a leading figure in the Scafatese crime scene, although he had been sentenced on appeal for Camorra association to a total sentence of 6 years and 1 month. La Court of Appeal recognized the link of the continuation with another extortion crime that he had already served and noted that Panariello had to be immediately released. The Court of Appeal held that Panariello had served the entire sentence even though he had only served two years for the crime of association, recognizing the thesis of his lawyer who recalled fungibility for the entire period.

The facts reconstructed by the investigators go from 2014 to 2019 and led to 14 convictions for services and slot machines imposed on entrepreneurs under threats, often through the explosion of homemade devices manufactured by Panariello himself, belonging to the family of stokers from Scafati.
Pasquale Panariello is also involved in drug trafficking together with the brother Marcello, who died in February 2022, when he was just over twenty years old, the victim of a dramatic road accident.
According to the DDA of Salerno, the two brothers, in addition to trafficking arms and drugs and being leading members of the Buonocore Matrone clan, did not disdain blackmailing traders, managing the illicit business of the centre of Scafati, glassmakers' area.
