An inmate of the Adriatico IV detention section in the Secondigliano prison started a fire in his cell and subsequently threatened the officers by brandishing rudimentary batons and razor blades.
Despite a day of high tension, the situation is currently under control thanks to the promptness and professionalism of the police personnel, preventing more serious consequences. Donato Capece, general secretary of the Autonomous Union of Penitentiary Police, announced the incident, which occurred at the Secondigliano prison.
Capece continues to express solidarity and support to the staff of Secondigliano, but stresses that penal institutions across the peninsula are experiencing dramatic events on a daily basis.
