Since yesterday, six foldable wheelchairs have been available at the Pompeii excavations to allow visits by people with mobility difficulties. The director of the archaeological park, Gabriel Zuchtriegel, wanted to test them personally, by walking a stretch of the route "Pompeii for everyone."
The test went well, but Zuchtriegel emphasized that there is still room for improvement in the accessibility of certain sections of the ancient city, making it truly accessible to all visitors.
The path "Pompei for everyone" is a facilitated visit itinerary of over 3,5 km, with the removal of architectural barriers where possible.
