Naples, assets worth 55 million euros seized from businessman linked to Casalesi

The Anti-Mafia Investigative Directorate has executed an asset seizure order issued by the Court of Santa Maria Capua Vetere – Preventive Measures Section against Neapolitan businessman Antonio D'Amico. The entrepreneur operates in the waste management and environmental remediation sectors and is believed to be close to the Casalesi clan.

The seizure order, resulting from a proposal for a preventive measure jointly advanced by the Public Prosecutor at the Court of Napoli and the Director of the DIA, involves four companies active in the sectors of purification plants, real estate, water consumption processing services and construction of public works. The total value of the seized assets is estimated at around 55 million euros.

The entrepreneur has already been indicted for facilitating the illegal awarding of the subcontract for the construction and management of the Chiaiano landfill to companies linked to the Casalesi clan.

He was charged with crimes such as criminal conspiracy, fraud in public supplies, fraud against public bodies, forgery of documents and certifications, and violation of environmental regulations (including illegal waste trafficking), with the aggravating circumstance of favoring the "Casalesi" clan, Zagaria faction.

The entrepreneur managed the family businesses, formally assigning corporate roles to his daughters to protect the company's image and maintain the "moral requirements" necessary for contracting with the Public Administration.

The Court of Santa Maria Capua Vetere has already initiated other preventive procedures against entrepreneurs connected to similar situations. Management of the seized assets will be entrusted to a judicial administration with a focus on protecting the company's positive assets.

The enforcement of the decree is part of the Anti-Mafia Investigative Directorate's institutional activities aimed at seizing illicitly acquired assets linked to mafia organizations, in order to protect the national economic fabric.
