Today, the Carabinieri of the Provincial Command of Salerno executed a preventive seizure order issued by the investigating judge of the Court of Salerno in acceptance of the request presented by the Public Prosecutor's Office.
The seizure concerns paths/gates number 3 and 7 of the pine forest in the Varolato-Laura area of the Municipality of Capaccio-Paestum, which is a nature reserve of the Sele-Tanagro river mouth, subject to landscape and environmental restrictions and declared to be of notable public interest.
The seizure activities were triggered by the crimes of “diversion of water and modification of the state of places, invasion of land or buildings, destruction or defacement of natural beauty, and for works carried out without authorization or in breach of it”.
In particular, on trail number 3, concrete curbs have been built, “sine titulo”, along its entire length and, for about half, asphalt and concrete paving; while on trail number 7, there is a paving with concrete slabs.
The preservation of natural reserves and the protection of the environment are issues of fundamental importance for the future of our planet, therefore it is essential to act against any form of damage or alteration of natural resources.
