Jannik Sinner beat Khachanov 6-4 7-5 6-3 and he is in the quarterfinals of the Australian Open. Since the beginning of the tournament the Italian tennis player has never lost a single set. The South Tyrolean, fourth in the world, will now face the winner between Alex De Minaur and Andrey Rublev.
Also in the quarter finals Djokovic. The world number one who overwhelmed Adrian Mannarino with a resounding 6-0, 6-0, 6-3 will play against Taylor Fritz who beat Stefanos Tsitsipas.
“It’s been a long time since we played against each other, Karen is a tough opponent, an incredible player from a mental and physical point of view”. Thus Jannik Sinner after reaching the quarter-finals of the Australian Open.
“It's a joy to play in front of this crowd. I've won with him in the past – continues as soon as the match is over – but every match has its own story. I am happy with the victory, but it was difficult. We have similar tennis, sometimes it seems like a ping-pong match. Sometimes I try to vary and I am happy with the result.
I'm not always cold, but I try to show little emotion when I lose a point. But I'm annoyed, of course. I put on my poker face. It's fun to play, try to compete and raise the level when the conditions get tough. Rublev or De Minaur? I'm a tennis fan, I'll watch the match.
If Alex wins, the crowd will be a factor, but it's part of the game. When I play in Italy, everyone cheers for me. I can't wait to play, it will be complicated: I'll face it with a smile".
