Young tennis player Jannik Sinner recently achieved a victory in Australia, placing him fourth in the ATP rankings despite his victory over Medvedev, currently third in the ATP rankings.
Sinner triumphed in Melbourne, winning his first career slam, the first by an Italian in 48 years.
The young tennis player faced Daniil Medvedev in a breathtaking final at the Australian Open, winning 3 sets to 2 after an initial breakthrough by the Russian tennis player at 2-0. This epic victory followed an equally important victory in the semifinal against the number one in the ATP ranking: the Serbian Novak Djokovic, thus crowning an extraordinary tournament for Sinner.
Despite his success, Jannik Sinner is currently in fourth place in the ATP world rankings, while Medvedev is in third place and is currently fighting with the young Spaniard Carlos Alcaraz for second place. However, Sinner has excellent chances of dislodging Medvedev, especially after the next tournaments that will be played on hard surfaces, the young Italian tennis player's favorite.
The ATP ranking works on points, climbing the ranking with the scores obtained thanks to victories in individual matches and in entire competitions. Currently, Djokovic is first with 9.855 points, Alcaraz second with 9.255 points, Medvedev third with 8.765 points, followed by Sinner with 8.310 points and finally by Andrej Rublev with 5.050 points. The gap between Sinner and Medvedev is only 455 points.
