Ercolano , like Mergellina and San Giovanni a Teduccio before it, also had to deal with the consequences of storm surges that brought waste and plastic back to dry land , a sad scenario that reveals the negative impact of human actions on the environment.
La Favorita beach , hit by this event, was fortunately promptly cleaned up by a volunteer . Concerned about the environmental devastation, the volunteer highlighted the situation before and after the cleanup, addressing Francesco Emilio Borrelli , a member of the Green-Left Alliance , to draw attention to the environmental disaster.
The MP emphasized the rebellion of the sea, which, with its storm surges, seems to "spit" the incivility and damage caused by man onto dry land: "This phenomenon occurs repeatedly, but it seems difficult to fully understand. It is essential to change our habits and lifestyle, orienting them toward environmental protection. The commendable actions of volunteers, whom we congratulate, unfortunately alone cannot counteract the environmental disasters caused by man."
