The new single by Suonno D'Ajere is available on digital platforms in Pre save
The trio will present the song in a release concert on January 21st at the Auditorium Novecento in Naples.
After the release of the single “Fotografia” and a world tour of over 20 dates, Suonno D'Ajere are back with the new single entitled “'E ggioche 'e prestiggio” available from January 22nd on digital platforms.
The song previews the second studio album coming out on Italian World Beat and will be previewed on January 21st at the historic Auditorium Novecento in Naples.

The second album by Suonno D'ajere, the trio formed by Irene Scarpato (vocals), Marcello Smigliante Gentile (mandolin, mandola, mandoloncello, backing vocals) and Gian Marco Libeccio (classical guitar, electric guitar, acoustic guitar, backing vocals), will be released on April 5th in Italy and on all digital platforms, and later in France, Germany, Benelux, the United Kingdom and Japan.
'E gioche 'e prestiggio is revisited by the trio who have taken up a minor piece of the Neapolitan caricature song written in 1955 by the duo Pisano-Cioffi and originally performed by Nino Taranto and then taken up by great interpreters of the genre such as Aldo Tarantino and Vittorio Marsiglia.
The three young authors and musicians have an immense love for the classical Neapolitan song form and for years they have been carrying out an accurate research of songs from the last three centuries, fishing out from the immense repertoire available the harmonies, melodies, pathos and irony. Suonno d'Ajere have already drawn from the vast Neapolitan repertoire in the past, recording rare pearls of humorous song, such as “'A casciaforte” and “'O guappo nnammurato”.
The Pisano – Cioffi authors' union is the most famous and important one for this repertoire: they are the authors of the very famous “Ciccio formaggio” or “E non sta bene”; I Suonno d'Ajere choose to interpret a minor piece of their production such as “'E ggioche 'e prestiggio”.
The recording taken as reference is that of Nino Taranto and the text reports various dictions and mispronunciations used by the famous singing actor, the greatest interpreter of the Neapolitan comic singing repertoire. The arrangement is enriched with noisy elements (putipu', whistle, bell) aimed at enhancing the comedy of the song.
Suonno d' Ajere have established themselves as the new ambassadors of Neapolitan song abroad.
After the successful tour in the summer of 2022 with stops at the Lincoln Center in New York, the SunFest in London (Ontario – Canada) and the Eargail Festival in Letterkenny in Ireland, they receive further certificates of esteem from the professionals after the performance at WOMEX in Lisbon (October 2022).
The trio continued its journey performing at festivals such as Bardentreffen (Nuremberg), Kulturborse (Freiburg), MUM – Jornadas Internacionales de la Musica de Extremadura – Merida/Spain). In December 2022 they performed at Napoli World, the first Italian showcase festival entirely dedicated to world music, and thanks to this performance they aroused the interest of over thirty delegates of international festivals: In the summer of 2023, Suonno D' ajere performed in Slovenia, Germany (Festival Stimmen opening for Vieux Farka Toure), Belgium (Festival Sfinx Mixed), Jordan, South Korea (Seoul Music Week0, Tunisia (Journees Musicales de Carthage), Cape Verde (Atlantic Music Expo), Spain, Austria (Jazz & the city Festival in Salzburg), India (Jodhpur Riff Festival - first time for Italian artists at the famous festival sponsored by Sir Mick Jagger) and at the prestigious Mercat de Musica Viva De Vic with a project co-produced by the Fabra i Coats center in Barcelona in collaboration with the writer and singer-songwriter Alessio Arena. There were also performances in Italy with appointments at the Premio Carosone in Naples, the Empoli Jazz Festival (opening the concert of Noa), at the Marateatro (Maratea) and at the Emblema Museum in Terzigno (Na). In March 2024, Suonno D' Ajere will also perform at the Babel Music XP in Marseille, the most important world music showcase festival in all of France.
