More cameras for video surveillance with improved lighting, "high impact" services such as those carried out in Caivano and Castel Volturno, but also the establishment of an "observation table" open to representatives of the world of commerce and civic committees to monitor the nightlife phenomenon and improve urban safety.
These decisions emerged from the meeting of the Public Order and Security Committee convened by Caserta Prefect Giuseppe Castaldo to review security issues in Santa Maria Capua Vetere, a city where serious incidents of violence have recently occurred, both related to nightlife—a 16-year-old was beaten and stabbed by five peers, one of whom was arrested and the other four are under investigation, near the Amphitheatre Campano at Christmas—and to organized crime, with 26-year-old Emanuele Nebbia suffering a gunshot wound to the head on New Year's Eve and later dying in Caserta hospital a few days ago.

The main investigations will focus on the Amphitheater area, a vibrant nightlife hub where youth fights often occur on weekends. Present at the meeting convened by Castaldo were the Mayor of Santa Maria Capua Vetere, Antonio Mirra, Police Commissioner Andrea Grassi, Provincial Commander of the Carabinieri, Manuel Scarso, and Provincial Commander of the Guardia di Finanza, Nicola Sportelli.
Mirra outlined several ongoing or upcoming interventions, such as the establishment of a limited traffic zone (ZTL) and the strengthening of video surveillance and public lighting in front of the Amphitheater. High-impact actions will also be implemented, and a discussion group has been established between institutions, trade associations, businesses, and civic committees. This group is already operational in other areas, such as Caserta and Aversa, and aims to foster discussion and sharing of initiatives on nightlife and urban safety.
