The man, already known to the police, was stopped by the Carabinieri around 2 am on January 6, after the victim had called 112 to report his threats.
The military found the man in an evident state of psychophysical alteration, probably caused by the use of drugs. He was furious and screaming that he wanted to kill his ex-partner.
“I'll kill you, I'll set you on fire with gasoline, I'll cut off your other leg and put you in a wheelchair”, the man said.
The victim, who lives with his parents, was protected by his family. The carabinieri had difficulty stopping the man, who was arrested with the help of another patrol.
The woman told the police that she had been in a relationship with the man for eight months, during which she suffered constant harassment and humiliation.
“Screams, death threats and episodes of psychological violence were prevalent when he drank and took cocaine”, the police said.
The woman decided to end the relationship in October, but the man continued to stalk her. He created 27 different social media profiles to contact her and sent her threatening messages.
Cocaine also found at the man's house
The man was arrested and transferred to prison. The carabinieri searched his home and found a dose of cocaine.
This case is an example of the gender violence that still afflicts women in Italy. It is important that victims of violence do not remain silent and report their attackers.
