On the morning of December 5th, the Carabinieri of the Radiomobile Operations Unit of the Company Sondrio, in Lombardy, and the Morbegno Station have reported to the judicial authorities for the crime of fraud against the elderly a cohabiting couple residing in Napoli.
The two, already known to the police, had arrived from Milan in a rental car. They were followed by the military to the center of Chiavenna, where they were stopped and searched. Inside the car, the Carabinieri immediately found several gold objects stolen from the victims of the scams committed the previous day in Morbegno and Chiesa in Valmalenco.
Subsequently, other objects were found during the search carried out in the bed and breakfast in Milan where they were staying; the remaining jewels given to them by the victims themselves were recovered, along with the sum of approximately 19 thousand euros in cash. The stolen goods were seized for subsequent return to their rightful owners.
