“TV series like 'Gomorra' or 'Mare Fuori' and trap music glorify criminal models and can have a negative influence on young people, even those who do not live in hardship”.
This is what the penitentiary police union Uspp denounces, which in a note speaks of an "increasingly widespread tendency" among young people to emulate mafia or camorra behavior.
The Uspp cites as an emblematic example the wounding, last December 11th, of Napoli, of a former actor of the film "La paranza dei bambini" Ciro Vecchione, believed to be linked to a criminal group in the Sanità neighborhood. The actor was in a car with his underage girlfriend when he was hit by several gunshots.
The secretary for Campania of the Uspp, Ciro Auricchio, talks about “baby gangs and young killers” that roam right in the city centre, “executing shots and shooting wildly, also causing innocent victims”. For example, a few days ago, a young man was wounded by eighty gunshots, in an ambush believed to have been aimed at Nicola Giuseppe Moffa, believed to be responsible for the ambush on Vecchione.
The Uspp urges a “deep reflection” on the effects of these phenomena, which “they have a misleading message that unfortunately appeals to a very young audience”The union emphasizes that “such influences are to be considered even more harmful in a city like Naples”, Where “in some neighborhoods and in a good part of the province, unfortunately, we live in close contact with these models.”
