The timely intervention of the Carabinieri probably avoided the first femicide of 2024.

It happened in Varcaturo, in the municipality of Giugliano. It was around 13 p.m. on New Year's Day, and a man showed up at the station. He was agitated, screaming, and asking for help. The Carabinieri officer was tasked with calming him down and hearing what had happened.

His partner just called him, her ex attacked her and promised to come back to kill her. The police rush to the woman's nearby home and screams can be heard from the street.

It's a matter of seconds that can be vital. He reaches the entrance door but it's closed, meanwhile children's cries and screams "push" the Carabinieri. There's no need to think about it and the soldiers break down the door, the scene is horrifying.
