It was a wild night on the streets of Acerra , and only thanks to the quick reflexes and skill of the Carabinieri who responded that the worst was averted.
Luigi Tufano, a 29-year-old already known to the police, was arrested for attempted aggravated murder by the Carabinieri of the Castello Di Cisterna radiomobile section and the Casalnuovo branch.
The arrest took place in via Grazia Deledda, near a school, after some citizens had reported the presence of an armed and visibly agitated man.
When the officers arrived at the indicated location, the man was no longer there. However, shortly thereafter, the 29-year-old emerged from an alley, pointing a gun at the carabinieri and firing four shots.
Luckily he didn't hit anyone: the police chased him on foot while he continued to fire three more shots during his escape.
Tufano fired at the Carabinieri seven times
Just before being stopped, he threw away the weapon, taking with him a blank-firing pistol, while the pistol used to shoot the police was found on the pavement, with a bullet still in the chamber.
After a vigorous resistance, Tufano was arrested and will be transferred to prison. Luigi Tufano's criminal career is studded with numerous arrests: the criminal has been involved in robberies since he was a boy.
