
They imposed protection money on traders and entrepreneurs in exchange for "job security": 13 people arrested by the Carabinieri during an operation against the Camorra in Caivano, arzano, Frattamaggiore and Frattaminore. The operation was conducted under the authority of the Naples District Anti-Mafia Prosecutor's Office.
Of the 13 individuals subject to the precautionary order, 11 are being held in prison, and two are banned from living in Campania. All are charged with mafia-type association, conspiracy to traffic narcotics, extortion and attempted extortion, possession and carrying of weapons, and possession for the purpose of drug trafficking. The charges are aggravated by the mafia method.
The investigations revealed the operations of a Camorra syndicate operating in the municipalities of Frattamaggiore, Frattaminore, and surrounding areas.
