Tomorrow, February 13th, the second edition of the cultural event Ercolano = Legality + Tourism 2024, subtitled "Don't Joke With Love," will take place. The event is free and runs from 4:00 PM to 9:00 PM.
Traditions, legality and tourism are the tags on which the project is based, strongly supported by Mayor Ciro Buonajuto and Councilor for Tourism Anna Giuliano. Given the coincidence with Valentine's Day, the theme of the event expands and also touches on "the fight against gender violence".
Through the celebration of Carnival, illegality is faced by proposing positive messages to the younger ones, looking at the traditions of the territory.
With the project “Ercolano = Legality + Tourism”, financed by the Metropolitan City of Naples, the Municipality of Ercolano relaunches the Carnival festivities, a day full of spectacular events aimed mainly at girls and boys who will be able to spend an enchanting day in the streets of their city.
“Let's all celebrate Carnival together in Ercolano. Let's get involved in the joy and enthusiasm! This year, more than ever, we want to create an unforgettable atmosphere and to do so we need the enthusiasm and participation of the entire city. The masked parade will cross the city. A unique moment in which we can express our creativity with fantastic costumes, colorful decorations and contagious joy. Let's get ready to experience an unforgettable day, full of colors, music and fun”, declares Ciro Buonajuto, Mayor of Ercolano and national vice-president of Anci.
“I am very happy that the municipal administration, in the person of Mayor Buonajuto, endorses this project that I strongly wanted to realize for the second year. I thank Città Metropolitana for the financial support” – declares the Tourism Councillor Anna Julian. "I consider the event a central cultural activity for the future of the young citizens of Ercolano for whom we have the duty to provide positive cultural elements from which they can draw inspiration for a better future, far from illegal temptations. The event is also a good moment of fun for the many tourists who flock all year round to our city full of proposals, such as the archaeological excavations and Vesuvius, which combine with the culinary, manufacturing and commercial traditions of the area."
E=L+T is an event that will end with the Feast of the Assumption, on August 15th, with a big concert in Piazza Pugliano; and it intends to impact on those festivities already naturally celebrated in the Ercolano community, enriching them with contents and proposals aimed at offering tourists a regenerated image of Ercolano that for years has been a land of criminal conflicts and that for a long time now has begun a path of restoration of legality at all levels: social, political and cultural.
Legality, identity and beauty are therefore the three pillars on which the action of the municipal administration is based. It starts from the belief that only by changing the narrative of the territory and its history can a new season of development be built, especially in the tourism sector. For this reason, 2024, the themes are broadened to touch on a sensitive topic, especially on Valentine's Day: "the fight against gender violence". The municipal administration wants to underline the importance of loving people for who they are, without worrying about labels or stereotypes, while at the same time promoting inclusion.
For the occasion, citizens are invited to participate in a masquerade party with romantic and fun clothes and costumes inspired by the theme of love.
On February 13, the parade will feature carnival-themed buses: the Heroes Bus and a multi-colored confetti-shooting bus that will parade through the city accompanied by the popular folk music of the street band La Banda del Carnevale, made up of members of Ars Nova Napoli and Bagarija Orkestar, which will perform a collection of traditional Southern Italian songs, combining them with the sounds of Balkan music including tammurriate, serenades and pizzica.
But other musical interventions are also planned thanks to the DJ Sets of:
Eduardo Tammaro aka Edwards dj/producer latin tech, afro tech and house who shared the stage with Guè, Geolier, Luchè. In 2023 he collaborated with 4step and Smil3 with whom he produced the track “Candela” published by Groover Records. The second set will be curated by Emanuele Gallo also known as Emanuele Side. He is a DJ and producer who explores a wide range of musical styles thanks to an extraordinary artistic versatility of electronic matrix with a unique sound.
The parades and performances dedicated to the world of dance are guaranteed by the Ercolano schools and academies: Danza & Danza; Flashdance Academy; Fit & Dance Academy; New Wonderful Dance and DanceArt Studio.
Also in the streets of Ercolano there will be the Flag-wavers of the Metelliane Towers who link their performance to one of the oldest traditions of the city of Cava de' Tirreni: "the game of pigeons". The performance has as its purpose the dissemination of the historical traditions of the city of Cava de' Tirreni where also came the Flag-wavers and Musicians of the Royal City, promoters of the ancient will of the Aragonese queen Giovanna II who defined, precisely, Cava as the "Royal City".
The rich day will end with the comedy show by Rosalia Porcaro on stage with the monologue “Semp'essa”. With this show Porcaro gives voice to all the women who fight and who change their destiny with a common denominator: courage. The actress tells the story of different female characters of many different ages: one none and one hundred thousand women in the carousel of the great Neapolitan actress, revelation of legendary TV shows such as “Convenscion”, “L'ottavo nano”, “Markette” and “Zelig” and today fresh from the success of the series “Mina Settembre” where she plays the role of Rosaria, midwife and colleague of Mina.
