The Carabinieri of the Casal di Principe Operations Section have arrested a man seriously suspected of the crimes of kidnapping for the purpose of extortion aggravated by mafia methods, aggravated personal injury, robbery and private violence.

The order of precautionary custody in prison was issued by the GIP at the Court of Naples at the request of the District Anti-Mafia Directorate.

The investigation, coordinated by the DDA of Naples, has allowed to ascertain that the man, head of a criminal group called “Eiye”, kidnapped a compatriot to extort money from his family members living in Nigeria.

The victim was taken from a bar in Casapesenna and taken to a house in Casal di Principe where she was held captive for an entire night.

During the kidnapping, the man was stripped, beaten and threatened with machetes and axes.

The victim's family paid a ransom of 1500 euros by bank transfer to secure his release.

The arrested man declared himself the leader of the “Eiye” group and threatened the victim with intervention in Nigeria if the payment was not made.

Today's operation is part of a broader context of the fight against the Nigerian mafia, which has demonstrated considerable effectiveness in the province of Caserta.

In fact, there are structured groups, such as “Black Axe”, “Vikings”, “Eiye” and “Maphite”, dedicated to numerous illicit activities, including drug trafficking, exploitation of prostitution, extortion and kidnapping.
