Rubble collapse in Largo Maradona, in the Spanish Quarter: situation and response. The incident occurred Saturday afternoon and involved a building in Vico Concordia, across from the famous "Pibe de Oro" mural.
Currently, access is limited from via Emanuele De Deo and other streets coming from via Toledo. Following the collapse of rubble, Largo Maradona, where the mural dedicated to the Pibe de Oro is located, has been partially closed. Spanish Neighborhoods.
A team of firefighters, Civil Protection, workers from Napoli Servizi and the Local Police intervened on site. Currently, access is only permitted from the lower side towards via Toledo. The detachment of debris from the cornice of the building at number 55 of via De Deo, as well as the damage to the attic of the apartment on the fifth floor, were ascertained by the firefighters.
The interventions included the chipping away of the cornice that was about to collapse. The personnel of Napoli Servizi completely closed pedestrian and vehicular traffic of the entire intersection between via Emanuele De Deo and vico Concordia, as well as sections of roads affected by the danger. Local Police officers arrived on site to guard Largo Maradona.
The area involved is one of the most popular tourist destinations in recent years and attracts thousands of visitors daily, also becoming a nightlife spot for young people. Due to the high influx of visitors, the Municipality had to create pedestrian paths and request the intervention of volunteers to manage the flow of pedestrians.
