Di Capua (AGE): “Let's be indignant as we did for Geolier also for the absence of full-time in schools”

Gioacchino Di Capua, national vice-president of A.Ge Parents Association and president of the section Acerra, expressed himself in a note: “Le giornate di Sanremo hanno illuminato la fierezza del popolo napoletano, personificata nell’eccezionale talento del giovane cantante Geolier.

"This sentiment was accentuated by some condemnatory statements by journalists in the press room, evoking the Neapolitan people who, on other occasions, are indignant against alleged deceptions in football. Music and football, together with theatre, are the soul of the Neapolitan, offering ways of expression that lead to feelings of revenge against adversity. These elements are undoubtedly precious in the fabric of our lives, but my reflection extends beyond that".

“Perché non indignarci con la stessa forza per l’assenza, tranne casi sporadici, del tempo pieno nelle scuole? Quando parlo del “popolo napoletano,” mi riferisco a un’identità che abbraccia tutto il Sud, andando oltre Napoli. La mancanza di indignazione su questioni vitali come l’istruzione è notevole. Troppo spesso diamo per scontati i disservizi, convincendoci che nulla possa cambiare”.

“Let's imagine a "televote" on the issue of full-time schools in the South: would we be ready to pick up the phone and express our opinion, even with a symbolic expense of 50 cents? This provocation aims to stimulate reflection on concrete action. Over the years, the issue of full-time schools has been raised through conferences, articles and editorials by respectable personalities, but the results have been minimal”.

"The redemption of Naples and the South passes through essential services for the community, and I am sure that Geolier would embrace this cause. His personal triumph is praiseworthy, but we must go further. I am convinced that, without divisive distinctions, we can collectively commit to guarantee a future in which our children have access to services and opportunities useful for their growth and education, a day in which "never" represents a concrete reality and not just a wish".
