A team of surgeons from the Umberto I Hospital in Nocera Inferiore, led by Dr. Roberto Sanseverino, Director of the Department of General Surgery of the ASL Salerno, performed an exceptionally complex surgical procedure to remove a tumor weighing almost 5 kg from a 63-year-old patient.
The operation, which lasted approximately two hours, was possible thanks to the timely diagnosis of the tumor mass, located on the patient's right kidney and expanding towards the large vessels of the body, in particular the vena cava.
“This intervention represents a tangible example of the healthcare excellence that our ASL is able to express,” emphasized Dr. Gennaro Sosto, General Director of ASL Salerno. “Investments in cutting-edge skills and technologies allow us to offer our patients top-level services, even in complex cases like this.”
Umberto I Hospital in Nocera Inferiore represents a point of reference for the province of Salerno and for the entire Campania region, not only for the high hospital complexity, but also for the recovery of passive mobility. The close collaboration with the other ASL facilities guarantees an efficient hospital network capable of responding to the needs of all citizens.
The surgery was a success and the patient is in good condition.
