A heavy hail of stones shattered a window and blew off the rearview mirror of the moving vehicle, fortunately without injuring any passengers.
The driver, unharmed, stopped the bus and alerted the police. This is the fifth vandalism raid in recent months on the routes from Aversa to Castel Volturno and Mondragone.
In addition to the economic damage and inconvenience to users, the company has urged the Prefect of Caserta to carry out more frequent checks in the risk areas.
Administrator Anthony Acconcia denounced the seriousness of these acts that put the safety of travelers and drivers at risk, and asked for a round table to find solutions.
Air Campania is considering changing bus routes and, as a last resort, canceling the line to Mondragone, in agreement with the Region. Possible changes to the service would cause further inconvenience for users who depend on public transport.
The situation is worrying and requires urgent intervention to counter these continuing episodes of violence.
The vandalism raids have all occurred in the evening. Vandals target moving buses, throwing stones and other objects. In addition to material damage, the raids cause delays and inconvenience to passengers.
Air Campania has already invested in safety systems on buses. The company is in contact with the authorities to find solutions to the problem. The anger and frustration of users are understandable.
Public transport is an essential service that must be guaranteed safely.
