Greenpeace Italy has in fact published a report entitled "Fashion on the go. The hidden cost of online returns: the thousand turns of fast-fashion that pollutes the planet" in which the returns of 24 items of clothing purchased on the e-commerce platforms of eight major fashion companies were analyzed.

To conduct the investigation, GPS trackers were used to trace the movements of the clothes, revealing that the packages traveled a total of approximately 100.000 kilometers across 13 European countries and China in just 58 days.

The report confirmed that easy and free returns generate significant environmental impacts. Emissions from the transportation and packaging of clothing were analyzed and showed an increase in CO2 emissions.

The Report episode also highlighted that Ghana has become the world’s largest dumping ground for used clothes, with 15 million items arriving every week, causing serious environmental disasters.
