The new leaders of the Lo Russo clan of Miano, accused of aggravated extortion for the so-called bread racket, have received 50 years in prison.
The convictions concerned Salvatore Di Vaio , 48 years old, known as “Totore o' Cavallo”, Alessandro Festa , 24 years old, Cosimo Napoleone , 33 years old, Fabio Pecoraro , 26 years old, Giovanni Perfetto , 59 years old, known as “o' mostr” (“the monster”, ed.) and Raffaele Petriccione , 25 years old, known as “Raffaele o' pazz” were sentenced to 7 years in prison each and a fine of 8 thousand euros.
Meanwhile, Vincenzo Pagliaro , 20, known as "Vincenzo o' Pagliaro," was sentenced to eight years in prison and a €10,000 fine. The sentence was issued by the Third Section of the Naples Court of Appeal.
In the first instance, the sentences had been more severe, with sentences of up to 13 years in prison.
The victims reported demands for bribes of 5.000 euros per month and 10 cents for every kilo of bread sold. The lightning investigation, conducted in the summer of 2022, led to the arrest of 8 people.
