Even 35 minutes of resuscitation efforts were not enough to bring back to life little Raffaele B., just 4 years old, who died yesterday at the San Giuliano hospital in Giugliano.

In a note from the ASL Napoli 2 Nord, the entire tragedy is reconstructed and the work carried out by the staff, given that an investigation has been opened by the judiciary following the complaint filed by the little boy's parents.

The 118 staff arrived in Mugnano , at the grandparents' house where the child was, ten minutes after the call to the control room and promptly started the maneuvers to clear the airways due to the ingestion of a small foreign body.

The child was subsequently rushed to the emergency room of San Giuliano Hospital, where emergency maneuvers were performed for a cardio-respiratory arrest during the journey.

The child did not respond to treatment

Despite the immediate intervention of the medical and nursing staff of the emergency room, who followed all the resuscitation procedures provided for by the PALS protocol (which manages the responses to potentially fatal clinical events involving children and newborns), the child did not respond to treatment and was declared dead after more than 35 minutes of resuscitation attempts.

We are now waiting for the results of the autopsy, ordered by the Naples North Prosecutor's Office, to determine the cause of death. The ASL Napoli 2 Nord joins the family in their grief at this difficult time and participates in the city mourning proclaimed by the Municipality of Mugnano di Napoli.
