On Friday 23 February at 18:30 pm, in the Conference Hall of the Museo-FRaC Baronissi, the book by Rossella Nicolò and Giancarlo Cavallo POETICHE IMPERTINENCEZE (MULTIMEDIA EDIZIONI) will be presented.

Massimo Bignardi, director of the Museo-FRaC, and Loredana Gigliotti, artist and author of the drawings published in the volume, will discuss the topic with the authors.

“In the spring of 2021 – writes Rossella Nicolò in Viaticum for the (imaginary) traveler placed as a warning for the reader – 'G' and 'R', with the sole purpose of passing the pandemic period, which was shaping up as the incredibly long span of the Anthropocene, began to explore that particular imaginative edifice of madness and play that for them was writing, built on the belief that words could reinvent a segment of the dreamed, imagined world, to be rediscovered through individual sensibilities. Two different worldviews confronted each other on the theme of the suggestions of everyday life, in a literary game that exploited the infinite possibilities offered by that constantly evolving container that is communication. The personal search for materials, sources, the diversity of individual cultural backgrounds and readings, provided fertile ground for reflections, thoughts, and flights of fancy. The shared love of writing as a 'representation' of human reality, the shared tendency to shift perspectives and intuitions, the possibility that the pen could become a brush, a paint, a canvas on which to paint words, could create dreamlike scenarios, in an attempt to explore the intrinsic potential of the materials offered by the mind.

The volume is enriched by ten works – drawings, collages and mixed techniques on fine paper – by Loredana Gigliotti which, during the presentation evening and until Sunday 25 February, will be visible in the display cases in the Frati gallery of Museo-FRaC.

“Drawing with scissors – notes Bignardi – This is the evident element that characterizes many of the drawings Loredana has chosen to accompany the writings collected in this booklet. A collection of writings in the style of a collection of letters, where 'R' and 'G' tell of the time spent in the silence of everyday life, during the months of lockdown dictated by the pandemic: light is a breath of wind, barely a breeze, which holds together moments of shared understanding, experienced in writings that run coplanar, just as Loredana makes the silhouettes move on the background plane.

The event was promoted as part of the finissage of the exhibition “AFRICAN CONTEMPORARY ART. Myths, symbols and other signs. Works from the collection of Mino Sorvillo, which closes on Sunday 25 February.
