Contemporary Art Exhibition “MOTO AL LUOGO, concentric circles on the Vesuvian soil” at the MATT The MATT, Territorial Archaeological Museum of Terzigno (Corso Luigi Einaudi), will host the inauguration of the Contemporary Art Exhibition “MOTO AL LUOGO, concentric circles on the Vesuvian soil” curated by the sociologist and contemporary art critic, Gaetano Romano, on Thursday 8 February 2024 at 18 pm.
The exhibition, open during the Museum's opening hours until March 10, will present works and performances by eleven artists selected by the curator: Mario Apuzzo, Claudio Bozzaotra, Peppe Capasso, Marcello Cinque, Anna Coppola, Ugo Cordasco, Giuseppe Di Guida, Luigi Vollaro, together with performers Pietro Mingione and Walter Zedd. During the inaugural event, these last two artists will produce a live pictorial work using a paste composed of minerals and vegetables, as in ancient times.
The installations by Claudio Bozzaotra and Giacomo Savio will be exhibited on the external embankments of the Museum, in dialogue with the nature of the surrounding area, in the Vesuvius National Park, and in harmony with the concepts of the philosopher Bauman on consumption and the solitude of the global citizen. The plastic works of the invited artists will find space in the rooms of the Museum, on the ground floor and on the first floor, offering a visual comparison with the treasures of the Roman Villas of Terzigno. The exhibition will be configured as a place of encounter and clash of experiential dialectics, also presenting drawings and preparatory works by the artists.
The opening of the Exhibition will be attended by Mayor Francesco Ranieri and Deputy Mayor with responsibility for Culture, Genny Falciano; the scientific director of MATT, Angelo Massa; the President of the Vesuvius National Park, Raffaele De Luca; General Giovanni Capasso, General Director of the Pompeii Great Project Unit; the Director of the Pompeii Archaeological Park, Gabriel Zuchtriegel and other representatives of the Municipal Administration and Territorial Institutions.
