World Greek Language Day celebrated in Naples

With the participation of the students of the "Sacro Cuore" institute in the ninth edition of the student marathon "Greek makes text."

Among the participants were also the boys from the Salesian Vomero “Sacro Cuore” institute, led by Don Franco Gallone.

The event took place in the Basilica of San Giovanni Maggiore in Naples, together with numerous classical high schools in Campania. During the event, the students of the third and fifth classical high schools of “Don Bosco”, accompanied by teachers Agostino Ferrara, Annachiara di Maio and Annalisa Merolla, presented a painting taken from Aeschylus' “Eumenides”, staging the persecution of the Erinyes, the avenging forces invoked by Clytemnestra against the matricide Orestes

. This mythical event has generated a reflection of political significance, highlighting the transition from the system of archaic culture to the laws of the polis.

The celebration of the trial, the institution of the tribunal, through the operation of Athena and the consequent acquittal of Orestes, presented a new world, in which conflicts are regulated by law and rational justice produces progress and civilization.
