Today, Hitachi Rail and the City of Naples officially signed a contract for the design, supply, and commissioning of 22 39-meter trains, intended to form double trains, with the intention of delivering six in an initial phase. The contract is valued at approximately €6 million and will be divided into several phases. The first phase, approved by the City Council on February 200, amounts to approximately €23 million and involves the construction of six new bidirectional metro trains for the Mostra-Municipio section of Line 60.
With a total length of 39 meters and a capacity of 290 passengers, the new vehicles stand out for their use of innovative materials that meet safety, durability, and recyclability requirements. Among their key features are Automatic Train Protection (ATP), a system that protects trains, and an innovative air conditioning system designed to ensure high levels of passenger comfort in all seasons.
Production of the new trains will take place at Hitachi Rail's Italian sites, including the one in Naples, with a workforce of approximately 1.
