The Carabinieri of Giugliano in Campania and Caivano have discovered a case of extortion linked to a contract worth almost three million euros (2.849.218 euros) for the construction of an artistic urban park in the Cardarelli hospital in Napoli.
This is one of the lines of investigation, coordinated by the DDA of Naples, thanks to which this morning 13 precautionary measures were notified between Caivano, Arzano, Frattamaggiore and Frattaminore, of which 11 in prison and 2 bans on residence in Campania.
The extortion involved a sum of €20, part of the funds earmarked for the contract. Several Camorra clans were apparently involved, particularly the Caiazzo-Cimmino clan from the Vomero neighborhood of Naples and the Sautto-Ciccarelli clan from Caivano.
Intercepted conversations revealed negotiations between representatives of these criminal families and an employee of a well-known service company, which also operated at the Cardarelli hospital.
The amount of the bribe was 20 thousand euros
The first part of the extortion, €10, was split between the Caiazzo-Cimmino clan and eight other individuals. The sum was paid by the contracting company during a meeting on September 8, 21, at the home of one of the suspects. During this meeting, company representatives were subjected to severe threats.
