On the morning of Wednesday, January 31, a hearing was held at the Court of Santa Maria Capua Vetere in relation to the trial concerning the death of Luigi Ciaramella, which occurred on July 31, 2008 on the Ischitella – Madonna del Pantano road, in Villa Literno.
“Since 15:XNUMX p.m., the Public Prosecutor has presented the final indictment of the civil parties, requesting the conviction of all five defendants, holding them responsible for the facts for which they were brought to trial,” says the lawyer Davide Tirozzi, defender of the Ciaramella family and of the Association Mamme Coraggio e Vittime della Strada Odv, chaired by Elena Ronzullo (mother of Luigi Ciaramella, present in the courtroom).
The Public Prosecutor emphasized the dangerousness of the road at the time of the accident, highlighting the lack of protection of the pole and the presence of illegal gates. Lawyer Tirozzi states that the defense line of the Ciaramella family is in tune with the arguments of the PM, presented during the trial, leaving the final verdict to the judge.
The next hearing is scheduled for February 14 at 14:XNUMX p.m., where some lawyers of the five defendants will speak. The remaining part will decide in court by the end of March, while the Judge's sentence will be issued at a later date to be defined.
The Ciaramella family expresses its satisfaction with the prosecution's statement by attorney Tirozzi, who presented a detailed defense brief of over 60 pages, a summary of all the doubts regarding the case and the lack of protective measures towards the victim.
The Ciaramella family and the association consider the safe placement of the guard rail as a success, achieved thanks to the intervention of the Interregional Public Works Department. The latter, having noted the dangerousness of the road section, has ordered the Province of Caserta to comply with the interministerial decree of 27 March 1988, n. 449. The Ciaramellas thank the institutions that have listened to their requests to stop the tragedy on the roads.
