Andrea Cioffi, responsible for the dramaturgy and direction, emphasizes that we are at the dawn of the 19th century, when a generation of artists, tired of formal and dogmatic education, decided to revolutionize the culture of their time. The protagonists' distinctiveness, however, lies in their unique temperaments. The woman, brilliant, frank, and vivacious, stood out in a world dominated by men.

The man, on the other hand, worked as an accountant for the East India Company, but was above all a poet, essayist, and an ironic and "melancholic" bachelor. The subversive work, the fruit of their collaboration, renewed tradition while betraying it with childlike simplicity, arousing widespread interest and inspiring the public to the social and artistic battles waged by these two modern and fascinating figures.

"We are a company attentive to contemporary dramaturgy – the interpreters underline – and yet we decided to tell a story from the past, because it deals with tragedies that are still current: discrimination, love for charlatans, society's inability to empathize with young people. It should make you think that, in over two hundred years, things have changed very little".
