The Modena police arrested yesterday morning a Napoli a 52-year-old man, with a criminal record, suspected of being involved in the robbery committed on 21 July 2023 at the Unicredit headquarters in Viale dei Corassori, Modena.
This new arrest brings the total number of people arrested in connection with the robbery to three. After the arrest of the first two suspects, the investigation focused on the car parked behind the bank, which the robbers used to reach the branch, and on the items found inside the car.
The forensic investigations, which included the recovery of "papillary fragments" inside the car and several highway tickets, were crucial. By analyzing the highway lanes, investigators were able to reconstruct the route the car used to reach Modena.
Additionally, cell phones and phone cards were seized. The 52-year-old suspect is currently being held in Poggioreale prison in Naples, awaiting preliminary hearing.
