In the Radiotherapy Department of the AOU San Giovanni di Dio and Ruggi d'Aragona of Salerno, directed by Dr. Davide di Gennaro, the first two procedures were performed using an innovative device that irradiates prostate tumors at high doses, to avoid debilitating surgical interventions to remove them.
In 5 sessions, an ultrasound scanner is able to focus and aim with very intense and powerful radiation, only the part compromised by the tumor, sparing the bladder and rectum, with excellent results, comparable to those of a surgical operation.
The Ruggi Strategic Management is very satisfied with this further step forward in the acquisition of new cutting-edge techniques within the Salerno Health Authority, which will improve healthcare services and patients' life expectancy.
To access the aforementioned medical practice, a referral for a radiotherapy visit is required. The patient will then be evaluated and subjected to specific procedural tests.
