The Minister of Culture Gennaro Sangiuliano announced the allocation of resources for the restoration of the old Donnaregina complex in Naples.
The project will restore this important historical and cultural site to its former splendor.
The announcement was made during the presentation of the exhibition "Caravaggio in Donnaregina, the Flagellation of Christ".
The exhibition, which will be held from February 28 to May 31, 2024, is an initiative promoted by the Archbishop of Naples, Domenico Battaglia.
On the occasion of Easter, guided tours will be organized for schools and volunteer associations.

The exhibition ticket also includes a visit to Caravaggio's "Seven Works of Mercy," housed at the Pio Monte della Misericordia.
Eike Schmidt, President of the Board of Directors of the Fondo Edifici di Culto and Director of the Museo e Real Bosco di Capodimonte, emphasized the importance of collaboration between the various institutions involved in the exhibition.
Elio de Rosa, Director of Museum Management at the Donnaregina Museum, highlighted the museum's prestigious cultural offerings.
Prefect Angelo Tortorella, Director of the Religious Buildings Fund, reiterated the importance of protecting and promoting the state's works of art.
