The Prefect of Naples, Michele di Bari, has called a meeting on the situation of the homeless in the city of Napoli.
The meeting was held at the Naples Prefecture, in the presence of the municipal councilor for Welfare and representatives of various organizations, including ASL Napoli 1 center, the Italian Red Cross, Caritas, the Community of Sant'Egidio, and the Be Humans Association - Rete Coordinamento di Strada.
During the meeting, the implementation of initiatives related to the eviction of homeless people from the Galleria Principe di Napoli was evaluated. The Municipality has begun work funded by the National Recovery and Resilience Plan (NRRP) to create three post offices and redevelop nine apartments for the homeless.
The stations will accommodate up to 50 people and will be located in Piazza Garibaldi and Fuorigrotta. The apartments will be used to accommodate small groups or families of up to 6/7 people and offer temporary accommodation, especially during more difficult periods like winter.
All participants agreed to intensify efforts to improve the reception of these vulnerable people.
As for the Galleria Principe di Napoli, after the eviction that took place in recent days to allow for restoration work, the homeless people were transferred to dormitory structures or alternative accommodations. The Round Table will meet regularly to monitor the situation.
