Penitentiary police officers conducted an extraordinary search inside the Avellino prison, discovering and subsequently seizing iron bars and cell phones. The news was reported by Tiziana Guacci, regional secretary of the SAPPE.
The operation was conducted in the cell of an Italian inmate who, a few days earlier, had taken several officers from the Translation Unit hostage during their attempt to transfer him to another prison. During the search, a smartphone, a handset, and several iron bars, all homemade, were found and confiscated.
This discovery raises further concerns about prison security and highlights the need for increased security and preventative measures to ensure a safe environment free of unauthorized items. Guacci's report underscores the importance of seriously addressing the challenges of prison management and taking measures to prevent similar incidents in the future.
