La Committee meeting provincial for public order and safety, chaired by the prefect of Napoli, Michele of Bari, has placed at the centre the important issue of young people who carry weapons with them.
The meeting was attended by the Councillor for Legality of the Municipality of Napoli, the provincial heads of the police forces and the regional school director. In particular, the problem of the illegal spread of weapons among minors was examined with great attention, a phenomenon that could also affect schools in the metropolitan area.
It was stressed that such behaviors, observed among the very young, are extremely worrying and indicate a lack of values, requiring a complex approach that includes preventive actions of a social and structural nature aimed at distancing them from the models proposed by organized crime.
To this end, the regional school director and the provincial commander of the Carabinieri illustrated the activity carried out within the schools as part of the project “The first victim is you. No to weapons”, an awareness campaign against the use of weapons among young people, promoted by the Carabinieri.
Furthermore, it was agreed to raise awareness among the directors of all educational institutions so that they report any situations of possession of weapons by students or violent behavior, in order to allow targeted intervention by the police outside of schools, intensifying prevention activities.
