“Stand Up Opera” in the Sala Assoli: A Solo of Opera and Comedy with Luca De Lorenzo
Luca De Lorenzo, bass/baritone, will perform a unique show that combines stand-up comedy and opera. Accompanied on the piano by Fabrizio Romano, the event will be held on Tuesday 13 and Wednesday 14 February 2024 at 20:30 pm at the Sala Assoli, curated by Casa del Contemporaneo.
In this show, the operatic repertoire mixes with the modern staging of stand-up comedy. De Lorenzo will present paradoxical stories and provocations far beyond political correctness, for an hour of engaging entertainment.

Luca De Lorenzo is committed to spreading the opera to non-experts, with the aim of making the opera known even to those who have never been to the theater. Directed by Gianmaria Fiorillo and written by Diego Lombardi, the show offers a new way to explore opera and comedy.
The show is a solo in which De Lorenzo, speaking about opera, questions being an artist in contemporary society. By creating an improvised place where classical music meets modern music, the obstacles, conflicts and fragilities of those who choose art as a reason for living and a profession are explored.
