On Saturday, February 17th at 9:00 PM, the world premiere of Fiorenza Calogero's new recital, entitled "Desiderio: The 1950s of Neapolitan Song," will take place.
In this concert, the artist will interpret Neapolitan music from the 50s, drawing on the repertoire of important precursors such as Roberto Murolo and Renato Carosone, who left their mark on the nightclubs of the time.
The contribution of Roberto Murolo and Renato Carosone Roberto Murolo and Renato Carosone played a significant role in freeing Neapolitan melody from the rhetorical and melodramatic excesses that had characterized it until then.
Murolo contributed in a particular way to the transformation of the genre, while Renato Carosone, together with Gegè Di Giacomo and Peter Van Wood, formed a famous trio and transformed the songs into authentic shows, with songs such as “Caravan petrol”, “Tu vuo' fa' l'americano” and “Torero”, which made Neapolitan song known in a more “Italian” way.
Fiorenza Calogero's accompanists Fiorenza Calogero will be accompanied by a talented group of musicians, including Carmine Terracciano (musical direction and guitars), Enzo Anastasio (sax, flute and clarinet), Luigi Castiello (double bass) and Domenico Monda (percussion).
